The Global Compact is a framework for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption . As the world's largest, global corporate citizenship initiative, the Global Compact is first and foremost concerned with exhibiting and building the social legitimacy of business and markets.

The Global Compact is a network. At its core are the Global Compact Office and six UN agencies, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
The Global Compact involves all the relevant social actors: governments, who defined the principles on which the initiative is based; companies, whose actions it seeks to influence; labour, in whose hands the concrete process of global production takes place; civil society organizations, representing the wider community of stakeholders; and The United Nations, the world's only truly global political forum, as an authoritative convener and facilitator.

"Caring for Climate" is a voluntary and complementary action platform for those UN Global Compact participants who seek to demonstrate leadership on the issue of climate change. It provides a framework for business leaders to advance practical solutions and help shape public policy as well as public attitudes. Chief executive officers who support the statement are prepared to set goals, develop and expand strategies and practices, and to publicly disclose emissions. With respect to disclosure, endorsers commit to communicating on an annual basis on progress made as part of their existing disclosure commitment within the UN Global Compact framework, that is, the Communication on Progress.

Caring for Climate is a unique initiative -- a commitment to action by business and a call to governments, incorporating transparency.
It offers an interface for business and governments at the global level, with the potential of rapidly becoming the leading platform for pragmatic business solutions -- transcending national interests and responding to the global nature of the issue at stake. Moreover, the broad geographical spread of its supporters, involving both leading actors from developed and emerging economies, reinforces the novel nature of this engagement platform.

The European Business Ethics Network, EBEN, is the only International network dedicated wholly to the promotion of business ethics in European private industry, public sector, voluntary organizations, and academia. Network members include business people, consultants, public sector managers, academics and students.
EBEN’s role is to promote values-based management, ethical leadership and increased awareness about companies' responsibility in society.
Presently, EBEN – founded in 1987 - has more than 1100 members in 20 countries with contacts to all important international associations related to business ethics.

The American German Business Club (or AGBC e.V.) is a private, non-profit, international organization, presently consisting of ten AGBC Chapters: Bonn, Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Kaiserslautern, Karlsruhe, Munich, Saxony, Stuttgart, and Washington / Baltimore. Its activities are designed to strengthen the ties between representatives of American and German business through personal networking in an informal atmosphere.

BCC in Germany is a member of the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Continental Europe (COBCOE) and is affiliated to the Association of British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), thus having access to the services of both organizations.
It is a privately funded, non-profit-making organization continuing, since 1960, in the tradition established by its predecessor, the British Chamber of Commerce, founded in Cologne and Hamburg in 1919.

The „Deutsch-Malaysische Gesellschaft“ – German Malaysian Society – was founded 31 August 1995. The official opening of the society followed 28 February 1996 in the presence of H.E. Dato’ Zainudin A. Rahman, then Ambassador of Malaysia to Germany. The objective of the German Malaysian Society is to deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of Germany and Malaysia.

Dato Dr. Achim Deja was (re-)elected president of the DTMG in October 2007. Dr. Martina Timmermann was elected one of the board members.

The 3C Initiative is committed to 9 overall principles
1. A switch-over to a low emitting economy is a necessity
2. A global solution is needed
3. A common, global goal limiting climate changes is needed
4. Greenhouse gas emissions must have a global price
5. A well laid-out combination of short- and long-term actions is needed
6. No options should be excluded
7. A global emissions market is needed
8. The developed countries must lead the way and the developing countries should follow as soon as they are able
9. Fair and sustainable global burden-sharing must be reached

The Japan Foundation for UNU was established in 1985 to serve as a receptacle for financial contributions to United Nations University from private sectors of Japan. JFUNU maintains its office in the UNU's headquarters facility in Shibuya, Tokyo. Utilizing the funds generated by the contributions, JFUNU is supporting various UNU activities in Japan.

The OAV, founded already in 1900, and with currently 500+ corporate members from major industry and the banking sector, trading companies and a large number of medium-sized companies from all industries, is one of the most renowned business associations in Germany.
The OAV works as a service provider for the German Asian business community and supports the business activities of its member companies in the Asia Pacific region.
As one of the founders of the Asia Pacific Committee of German Business (APA), OAV works on optimizing the basic conditions for the German business community in Asia Pacific and on intensification of mutual contacts in terms of politics and economy.

Established in 1856, the VDI is today the largest engineering association in Western Europe. In Germany, it is recognized as the representative of 132 000 engineers and natural scientists both within the profession and in the public arena. As the leading institution for training and technology transfer among experts, it is also a partner at the preliminary stages of the decision-making process in matters of technological policy and for all questions that engineers face in their professional or public lives.

In 1860, the Technical Association for Iron Metallurgy was founded. It became the German Iron and Steel Institute (VDEh) in 1880. Only recently, in 2003, the institute was renamed “Stahlinstitut VDEh.”
The aim of the institute is to encourage technical, technical-scientific, and scientific cooperation between engineers with a view to advancing steel technology and promoting steel as a material. In the pursuit of this goal, Steel Institute VDEh relies on a research and experience sharing approach which has been deliberately extended to include equipment manufacturers and suppliers for international joint projects. Today, Steel Institute VDEh has a membership of about 9,000 individuals from the sectors of industry, engineering, science or business administration. In addition, some 100 companies active in iron and steel-making and associated industries have joined the organization.
