On 23 May 2019, just in time before the European elections, the townhall of Aachen (Krönungssaal) offered its beautiful setting for the festive ceremony at the occasion of bestowing the Médaille Charlemagne pour les medias Européen to the ERASMUS Student Network. After an authentic warm welcome by Lord Mayor of Aachen, Marcel Philipp, Viviane Reding, former Vice President of the European Commission and Commissioner ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viviane_Reding )  rendered a fulminant speech on the needs and impact of the ERASMUS program for EUROPE and European identity.
