At the UN Global Compact Leadership Summit in New York 19-20 September 2013, TIMA President and CEO, Dr Achim Deja, and TIMA VP for International Affairs, Dr Martina Timmermann, participated in the launching session of the UN GC initiative “Business for Peace” (B4P).

By signing this important initiative, TIMA has committed itself to use its professional expertise for developing projects and initiatives with particular consideration of the effects on peace building and peace keeping.

TIMA strives to support awareness raising on the pertinent role businesses and entrepreneurs can play in such process. We are convinced that through joint business projects and through building and fostering transnational business networks based on deliberate consideration for mutual cultural understanding and respect, transnational enterprises of all sizes can have their very part in the process of creating and improving the conditions for peace. In such context, it is also important to see that not only business as a whole but every single individual, entrepreneur and employee, has an important role to play - by serving as role models of courage and integrity in daily business life.
